Part of what we do for a living is measure how visible a business is inside AI answer engines — whether ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity actually know a brand exists, describe it accurately, and recommend it when someone asks a relevant question. The audit methodology comes from Tony Salerno Consulting, our strategy-side sister brand, and it produces a blunt score out of 100.

Recently we pointed that audit at ourselves.

9/100

Automated AI Assistant's own AI-visibility score, from the same audit we run for clients. Not a typo. Not rounded down for drama.

How Bad Is 9, Really?

Scores only mean something with calibration, so here's the honest context from audits we've run:

46

A national brand we audited — strong entity presence, still plenty of gaps.

20

Royalty Carpet & Flooring, our flagship client, before their visibility work began.

9

Us. The company that sells this exact expertise. Ouch.

So yes — our own client outscored us more than two to one, and a national brand scored five times higher. The AI engines barely know we exist. When they do mention us, there's not enough consistent, structured information about us out there for them to say anything useful.

Why We're Publishing the Ugly Number

The comfortable move would be to fix it quietly and only ever show you the after. But that's exactly the kind of highlight-reel marketing we don't do. Our whole pitch is proof over promises — our AI answers our own phone, our automations run our own follow-up. Visibility should be no different.

There's also a more useful reason: a low starting score is the most honest demo of the methodology we could possibly give you. If the playbook works, you'll watch a real business climb from 9 in public, month by month, with nothing hidden. If it doesn't move, you'll see that too — and we deserve the awkward questions.

What We're Fixing First

The audit doesn't just produce a score; it produces a priority list. Ours starts here:

  • The entity graph. Making sure the web agrees on who we are: consistent name, address, phone, and profiles everywhere we appear, all pointing at each other, so the engines can connect "Automated AI Assistant" into one confident entity instead of scattered fragments.
  • Structured data. Proper schema across this site — organization, services, FAQs, articles like this one — so machines don't have to guess what each page is about.
  • Being citable. AI engines recommend businesses they can quote. That means publishing genuinely useful, specific content — real prices, real playbooks, real numbers like this post — instead of thin brochure copy.

The Scoreboard, Going Forward

Every month we'll re-run the audit and post the new score here on the blog, along with what we changed and what we think moved it. No cherry-picking the good months. The number is the number.

Current score: 9/100. Watch this space.
